Why Use Custom Bulk Bags (FIBCs)?

How are Bulk Bags Manufactured?

Below is a step-by-step view of our manufacturing process. Quality and Safety are our number one priority! Our clean rooms are some of the best in the world, and we are in the top five companies actively producing bulk bags.

Step 1: Polypropylene resin is heated up to a melting point and any additives needed such are UVI, Color, etc. are added during this process.

Step 2: Extrusion is the next step and sheets of polypropylene are produced and then cut into small strips of yarn to be used for weaving the fabric.

Step 3: Weaving is the next step and is done by taking the yarn and weaving it into a circular fabric using looms.

Step 4: Optional coating is the next step and not all bags will have a coating applied. This is only if the bag will be utilized for a powdery product where the product could sift through the fabric. This step applies another coat of polypropylene to the product to close off any imperfections in the weave.

Step 5: Cutting is the next step, and this is where the fabric will be cut to size according to the specification of the bags being manufactured. Most manufacturers are heat-cutting the fabric to ensure there is no fraying when cutting.

Step 6: Sewing is when the fabric is gathered to make the actual bulk bag. This is a manual process, and it is very time-consuming.

Step 7: Pre-Shipping is where the bags are complete and will be blown out to remove any remnants of thread or any other foreign materials. They will also be inspected one last time for any imperfections. Then, they will be highly compressed and loaded onto a pallet for shipping.

Step 8: Shipping is where the bags are loaded into the container for shipping overseas to the respective customer.

These organizations will do safety audits to certify the manufacturing plant has met all the requirements to be able to safely manufacture bulk bags for food grade or pharmaceutical bags. There are both correct and wrong ways to work with bulk bags when filling, emptying, storing, and shipping in a safe manner.

Proper Way to Fill Bulk Bags

Make sure the bag is appropriate for the product and weight you will be loading
Ensure you have designed the bag with the correct bulk density in mind
Always secure the spout tightly before loading the product to control dust
Make sure to fill to the top to ensure safe stacking
Always inflate PE liners to allow better loading
Never fill more weight than the safe working load (SWL) dictates on your manufacture tag
Always start filling with the bag off the ground, so the product fills the bottom properly
Make sure the bag fills evenly throughout the load

How to Empty a Bulk Bag

Never stand under a bulk bag to untie the bottom spout
Always use an extended tool to untie the bottom spout
Never raise a bag that has been compromised to unload it
If liners are not tabbed, make sure to tie them off to keep them from getting pulled out of the bag during the discharge of the product.

Shipping Bulk Bags

Check for sharp edges on forklifts tines, cranes hooks, or bars.
Inspect for protruding nails or sharp edges on wooden pallets or use plastic pallets
Procure the correct pallet size so the bag does not hang over the edge of the pallet
Make sure the spout top or duffle top has been properly closed to prevent leakage
Use dunnage bags or strapping to secure the bags if shipping in an overseas container to reduce shifting or rubbing against each other which will cause damage to the bags

Never stack bags more than two high unless you are using a pyramid stacking scheme
